Up to this point, we have analyzed our content standards and frameworks to determine what mastery looks like and then developed assessments to track learning progression toward that mastery. We have also identified ways to get to know our learners so we can design appropriate instructional strategies and supports to ensure they all achieve mastery and meet our learning objectives. In this week’s discussion, we identified and shared valuable instructional resources, tools, supports, and strategies, especially those that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion of all students with our peers. Now, we will begin implementing some of the strategies we feel are appropriate for our students and their progression toward mastery. This assignment aligns with TPEs 1.4 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.6, and 4.4, which are about understanding and organizing subject matter for student learning and then planning instruction and designing learning experiences for all students. This assignment will allow us to put these TPEs into practice and align with the work we have done already for this course.

    Instructions

Create a station rotation model with at least two stations you could use during a one-day lesson. You are encouraged, but not required, to use this as part of the Week Four Signature Assignment. Be creative and apply it specifically to your teaching context.

    1. Review the interactive module before you begin your assignment, as it will support your work.
    2. Download the Station Rotation template and complete it for this assignment. If you need more space for writing, you may insert slides. For this assignment:
      • Write or record and insert a video describing a brief overview of the flow of this lesson, including timing as an Introduction.
      • Align the station rotation with a content standard you have identified and utilized in previous assignments.
      • Write a clear learning objective articulated to students for the lesson (as a whole).
      • Design at least two stations. For each station:
        • Describe the activity.
        • Identify a specific outcome that aligns with the learning objective.
        • Describe what students and the teacher will be doing.
        • Demonstrate the implementation of multiple means of expression and engagement.
        • Identify where and how you, as the teacher, will provide timely, actionable feedback for students’ progress towards mastery of your learning objective.
        • Describe how you will support the needs of all students, with specific reference to how you will support three focus students. These focus students maybe your own students or you may use the focus students provided: One must be an English Language Learner, and one must be a student with an IEP or 504 Plan.
      • Summarize how these three stations fit together and what would be your next steps based on student performance in those stations in a Closure.
