Inclusive Learning Environments

    To further examine the topic of developing an inclusive, safe, and positive learning environment and explain strategies or steps we may use to ensure all students are welcome to be part of the class community and discourse, we were to create a presentation that discusses stereotype threatsgrowth mindset, and addressing instances of intolerance.

    All students can learn when assets and learning needs are the focus of instruction. We were to take what we learned from the assigned resources and conduct independent research to learn how stereotype threats and instances of intolerance might be demonstrated in our learning environment. We were also to learn about implementing strategies to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all students.

    After reviewing the assigned resources, we were to conduct independent research for credible sources to support our presentation on strategies that address intolerance in our professional learning environment (e.g., our classroom).

    Create a PowerPoint presentation utilizing the following parameters:

    • Title Slide
    • One slide for each topic that defines the type of identity (i.e., four slides). On each slide, include two examples of how intolerance may occur based upon the type of identity and three strategies to address situations of intolerance directed at the specific type of identity in your professional learning environment. The following are the types of identity to be addressed:
    • One slide that summarizes the topic of stereotype-threat
    • One slide that identifies specific strategies to address stereotype-threats within your professional learning environment
    • One slide that describes the concept of growth mindset
    • One slide that identifies specific strategies to promote growth mindset within your professional earning environment
    • One slide in which you reflect on the process of exploring this week’s topics, new learning, and your perception of your individual ability to address intolerance, stereotype threat, and promote growth mindset as the leader of a classroom community with diverse learners present
