Throughout this course, we have identified the critical components of the ITL program, developed an awareness of critical aspects of the teaching profession, and engaged in reflective practice. Utilizing this new or reinforced knowledge, we were to create goals and timelines that map out our trajectory from the first course in our program to being recommended for a preliminary teaching credential. Setting up a solid plan or roadmap keeps us on track and successful. Goals are set, and our path is clear.

In this assignment, we were to develop a roadmap for our success through the ITL program. The roadmap will serve as a tool to keep us focused and on track. To do this, we were to fill out the provided roadmap template using SMART goals for each item we needed to complete throughout the program. We were to include dates and look up the resources to help us attain our goals. This included going to the testing websites, looking at test dates, and taking into consideration the time to receive test/assessment results. This was our opportunity to organize a clear plan and stay on track.

When establishing our roadmap through the ITL program, we were to make sure we were setting SMART goals. SMART is an acronym that gives criteria and focus to the goals we set. There are variations to what each letter represents, but in general, these are the meanings:

S – Specific or Strategic: What goal are you trying to accomplish and why?

M – Measurable: How will you know you’ve achieved your goal? What is your intended outcome?

A – Attainable: What actions will you put into place to ensure you achieve this goal?

R – Realistic or Relevant: How does this goal align with your role as an educator?

T – Time-bound: What is the timeline for achieving this goal?
